The Saipem FDS refitting project has been finally completed

After more than three months of refitting the pipelayer Saipem FDS has left Genova for new projects.

The work in numbers:

21.049 t Gross Tonnage, 163 mt long by 30 mt wide.
15.000 mt3 about of scaffolding built.
3 months in the yard to complete the works.
25 days in dry dock.
170: average number of workers per day on the project.
320: maximum number of works per day on the project.
126.000 m2 of paint applied on hull and tanks.
Complete renewal of the paint cycle, including sandblasting to bare steel, of n°9 tanks.
Main overhauling of the Main Crane (lifting capacity 600 ton), including disembarking of the boom for intensive steel repair and complete painting.
Loading test on N.4 Cranes.
30 tons weight of steel substituted.
Complete overhaul of n°6 propulsion/maneuvering thrusters.
Installation of n°2 Ballast Water Treatment Systems.
