The shipyard is located in the heart of the Port of Genoa, in the ship repair area. This area spans a surface of 425,000 sqm, 2,710m of quays, ensuring good availability of space, with three main zones concentrated in the east of the Old Port: Calata Gadda, Molo Giano and the Levante area, including Calata Boccardo and Le Grazie.
In this area, there are more than 50 companies providing a full range of services for all aspects of repair, electrochemical and electronics jobs, as well as services such as carpentry and design workshops, hull cleaning, painting, sandblasting, flooring, and sanitary facilities.
The shipyard is strategically located next to the headquarters of ABB and Wartsila, which are major partners of SGdP. The yard is 10 minutes away from the airport and well connected to main highways.
The city of Genoa has an important historical centre and was nominated as European Capital of Culture in 2004. With a large number of museums, it is also home to many historical buildings, and those found on the famous Via Garibaldi are of particular interest. The coastline, featuring Golfo Paradiso and Portofino, is well known all around the world.
The Ligurian city also offers a variety of attractions ranging from the Genoa Aquarium in Porto Antico to the many wonderful and attractive restaurants situated in its narrow historical streets.

SGdP offers a number of mechanical workshops: repair, overhaul, fitting, adjusting, machining, milling, boring, submerged arc welding, metal spraying, cladding, rebushing, testing and redelivery on board. Testing, research and laboratory analysis allows the company to keep abreast of ongoing technological developments. SGdP owns three lathes as well as boring, milling and grinding machines to carry out all kinds of repairs, provide maximum assistance and offer a variety of technological solutions.
SGdP is able to manufacture steel pipes, stainless steel pipes and copper pipes. The workshop is capable of cold bending and semi-automatic pipe welding. Steel workshops are equipped with overhead cranes, heavy and light steel workshops, new equipment and hydraulic circuits.
The yard can also manufacture steel blocks in its 2,000 sqm covered area. Equipped with overhead cranes with a lifting capacity of 20 tonnes, it is easily reached by floating crane and barge when heavy structures need to be handled.
1,210 sqm are available for storing shipowners’ spare parts and equipment: this is particularly useful for passenger vessel conversions and refurbishments.

All the berths are fully equipped to accommodate vessels to be moored for repairs. The total berth length is around 1,150 linear metres with an average draught depth of 10m. Three berth cranes with a capacity of 20 tonnes each are available.
