Egidio Massone, Human Resources Director and QHSSE Manager, and Ludovica Reggio, Technical Manager at San Giorgio del Porto S.p.A. (part of the Genova Industrie Navali S.p.A. group), participated in a lecture at the Politecnico di Milano as part of the “Repairing and Remanufacturing” course within the Department of Mechanical Engineering, held by Prof. Barbara Previtali.
The session, which took place last Friday 21st November, represented a new moment of collaboration between IIS - ISTITUTO ITALIANO DELLA SALDATURA (Italian Welding Institute) and San Giorgio del Porto. The aim was to provide students with a real-world perspective on the skills, methodologies, and challenges that characterise the shipbuilding sector, remanufacturing, and industrial process innovation.
As part of this opportunity, students were able to explore key aspects such as the technical management of ship construction, repair, and maintenance activities, the evolution of QHSSE practices, the development of human capital in complex industrial contexts, and the integration of innovation, sustainability, and daily operations.
The meeting offered the Politecnico a significant opportunity to bridge the gap between the academic world and the reality of an international shipyard, opening up new prospects for theses, internships, and future collaborations. This synergy confirmed the role of San Giorgio del Porto and IIS as benchmarks for innovation, technical expertise, and professional growth within the naval sector.
