Operating in the ship repair industry since 1928, San Giorgio del Porto is an historic shipyard equipped with state-of-the-art facilities. The shipyard is a global point of reference for the repair and conversion of all types of ship, Ro-Pax vessel upgrades and mid-range vessel construction projects.
SGdP, alongside its French sister company, Chantier Naval de Marseille (CNdM), operates a total of eight dry docks and over 2 km of equipped repair quays. It is capable of handling the largest of vessels and is perfectly positioned to support all the needs of the maritime sector, from cruise and offshore to LNG and cargo, providing specialised services and assistance 24/7/365.
Ship repair and maintenance form the core business of the two yards: from mid-range ships to the giants of the sea, SGdP has the facilities, the teams and the technical know-how to carry out any kind of repair.
With selected qualified service providers, SGdP is able to carry out electrical works, the overhaul and repair of electric motors, and all kinds of work on vessel propulsion, ranging from the removal of tail shafts and rudders to the complete overhaul of thrusters or azipods.
Fully customised refitting services and conversion work can be carried out in order to give a new look to an old vessel, renew or revamp existing areas, boost a ship’s capacity or improve its efficiency.
SGdP has strong expertise in applying and using all types of paint and the latest washing and dustless technologies, such as robotic hydro-blasting with ultra-high-pressure water cleaning (up to 3,000 bar) for hull or deck treatment. The yard also carries out other services such as tank coating.
The ecological and energy transition is driving a global transformation in the industrial sector toward innovative plants and technical solutions. With decades of experience and strategically located seaside facilities, San Giorgio Del Porto is the ideal partner for developing modular and sustainable solutions in plant engineering and logistics. We provide comprehensive services for onshore and offshore industrial plants, from initial concepts to construction, prefabrication, and advanced logistics, focusing on decarbonization and “green” resource management.
